We offer bespoke navigation training tailored to you and your group, or generic courses to achieve competences specified by external authorities such as Lowland Rescue, NNAS and DofE (NOTE: we no longer teach NNAS courses as they are not cost effective but can train to the same standards/syllabus).

We provide all navigation training and assessment for the Hampshire Search and Rescue Dog Team (www.hsardogs.org.uk) where Bug is a Level 3 Dog Handler so are well versed in the standards required for both Search Technicians (STs) and Team Leaders (TLs) in Lowland Rescue (LR) teams.  Added bonus, we run those courses at a discounted rate – please ask for details.

Navigation Courses are normally held in appropriate locations in Southern Hampshire but we can come OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAto you if necessary.  All specialist navigation equipment including maps, compass, marker pens etc. will be provided.  The majority of the course will be conducted outdoors but we will use a cafe/coffee shop for the initial theory session if there are any near our training venue – and maybe a café or pub on completion!  Details of locations, meeting point, training sites, and equipment needed will be confirmed on booking but the course would normally run along the following format:

Day 1

Meet and introductions – coffee and cake.  Admin and safety.  Syllabus, skills to be developed, assessment process.  Theory and Practical training (mostly outdoors/hands on).

Day 2

Continue Practical training, consolidate skills learned.  Assessment (practical).  Coffee and cake.  Course review.  Certificate presentation.

Generic navigation courses cost £120 per person, ask about bespoke courses and discounts for Lowland Rescue Teams.
